I just received an email from LCol Ray McGill the immediate past CO of the Regiment. My words earlier in the week were done for selfish reasons to recognize my father and those that fought alongside of him during WWII. Needless to say I was surprised to get this email from the LCol. His words were from the heart and made me smile I thank him as a gentleman and salute him as a former service member. The email contained a valuable item...that of my father's service number. For that LCol I am grateful.Thank you again. Michael Szakszon Corporal (Ret'd)

I watched with stunned wonder on the History Channel yesterday at what the Regiment did during the Second World War. My father Stephen Szakszon served with the Regiment during that timeframe. I beleive he was in Italy and Africa. What he must have seen during that time and being so young. He was a young boy who joined whilst living in Montreal. After his death in 1987, I learned that he was a sniper during WWII. He was one of few that survived the War and was able to have a family of three boys. There are alot of things I miss about my father, including his wonderful sense of humour and commitment to his family. I do not believe our family every recovered from his death. Having spent four years in the military during the 1980's, I related to my father on a level that differs greatly than that of the rest of my family. I think he was misunderstood about many things and I wonder how much the War changed him? Even after all these years I still think it was yesterday that he passed away. My father joined the Reserves after the war as a Sgt., and later was very active in the Scouts and later with the Legion. On the 65th anniversary Of D-Day I was compelled to thank my father and all those who served some galliantly during the War. I am proud to have been your son Dad. You were a great father and an inspiring teacher. May you rest in peace.....Corporal Michael Szakszon (Retired)

I am planning a trip to Italy and would like to follow my father's world war two footsteps. His name is J.R Whitehead and he served with the Hastings and Prince Edward Regiment in Italy and North Africa in 1943-44 I have obtained his service record but there is no mention of any towns , cities , etc ,that he fought in . Just that he served in the mediteranean and North africa areas. Any info would be most appreciated. Thankyou Peter Whitehead

I am looking for anyone who may have served with my granduncle. His name was Hector Martin. He served in WWII. I am interested in finding any pictures, stories etc. of him with his unit. I am also trying to find the war diary. I'm not having any luck with that. Thanks in advance. Tammy

G'day all. I served for 25 years in the RCCS. I'm originally from Belleville and am proud to announce it to all and sundry. I've always been proud to claim the "Hasty Pees" as my home regiment. My brother Bill joined the regiment as a private and served with distinction. He became RSM and was later commissioned and took charge of the cadet corps. Needless to say, I am extremely proud of him and his accomplishments. "The Regiment" will always hold a place in my heart. Good luck and God speed.
