Hey, Was around in the early seventies, Unit 385; Madoc cadets. Went to Ipperwash in 1972. B co. There's none so rare as can compare with the men of I.A.C.C. Any others of us still around? Especially Looking for Dennis (Fang) May. Ran into him again in '77 when I was with the 26th Svc. Bn. reserves North Bay and he was with the regs fixing the dueces we trashed.

Hi, I am the web site coordinator, recently, we had a gentleman, who served in Korea, make a complaint about the Regiment of 1956. He is entitled to his comments. I removed his comments not because I don't think he has a right to voice them, but rather to protect him from the ire of all of you. We have over 78,000 visitors to our site, and so far we have had only one, "rant", so just put it into perspective. I reply to many of those who post questions and comments, as I did this gentleman Thanks to all of you who have written to me and who have personally posted a response. The Regiment is great, and those of us who have served in it, know it to be true. Paratus Ray

Mr. Oram. You said you spent 15 months in the front line. You must have therefore served with more than one PPCLI Bn as 1VP was in the line for 12 months, and 2 and 3VP both spent only 9 months in the line. Well done sir and thank you. Your service to our country, your regiment, and the cause of freedom deserves our utmost respect. I mean that. You joined the Hasty Ps (not Hastie Ps) in 1956 and in your own words, were given and I quote “No though of the terrible experiences of Front line soldiers and what they went through.” This is a shocking revelation given that in 1956 The Regiment was chocker block full of men at all rank levels who had been away from home for five long years and who had spent as much if not more time in combat than you. One would not expect that degree of insensitivity however, with all that said, it does not justify your insulting remarks directed at this glorious regiment. We are not trying to tell everyone how great we are; you used the word “great,” we simply let the facts speak for themselves. As a military man however far removed from service you are, you do understand that an insult or as in your case, a number of insults directed at one’s regiment is an insult to all who have served in her ranks. My father was in The Regiment in 1956 and I have personally known, admired and deeply respected many of those men who served in WWII and were in The Regiment during your time. Bad form sir, extremely bad form. H. L. (Skip) Simpson Lieutenant-Colonel (Retired) PS: This section of the Website was never intended as a forum to sort out personal issues and what I read here appear to be just that. However having said that, my email address is attached and I would be more that willing to continue this conversation man to man. If I can help please contact me

This is the second entry I have made in this storied, well regarding and celebrated Regiment. As we approach yet another Remembrance Day, I reflect back on my brief tenure with the Canadian Armed Forces in the 1980's. It was an indelible time in my life...one I have never forgotten. At this time of the year I think of people like my father who fought for this Regiment during the Second World War and his comrades. I salute those service people that have made the military a career in present day. I wear a different uniform now, that of a Correctional Officer. There is never a day where my military experience fails me in my present duties. This is a humble way for me to say those Veterans and those that serve now.....thank you...and thank you for being Great Canadians!

I am looking for info on my father, Bernard May, who fought with the Hasty P's during WWII. Like many veterans he did not like to talk about his war experiences. I know he was decorated for bravery (Military Medal). My mother was a war bride, in fact my 2 oldest sisters were born in England during the war (but were far too young to remember any of it). Thank you.

Hey Ed you're being pretty harsh towards the Reg't with very little explanation to backup your feelings. I only did about nine months with the Reg't before going Reg Force. The Hast P's were instrumental in my 31 years service and gave me a foot up in the service to Canada and even yourself. So if you want to bad mouth us at least give us enough detail to work on correcting any downfalls you feel we may have. Detail would be a good start and I feel other members or ex-members of the Reg't may want to weigh in to assist. Ed please help us help you. I only speak for myself and not the Reg't. Respectfuly Dan

I am interested in learning more about my father's time with the Hastie P's in World War II. His name was Jim Cave also and he typically spoke very little about the war times. One man (a legionnaire) came to my Dads funeral and spoke of some of the times, good and bad, they had shared.
